We have doubled our task force at BigHouse this summer by adding 3 wonderfully talented interns. They are AMAZING! These lovely ladies are planning our day camps, running the preschool program, and keeping the embroidering machines humming (hoping to be done with all of our towels by the end of the week!!). And they do a little humming themselves...or rather, singing. Today I'm not sure what all tunes we heard coming from the sweatshop, but I know "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in My Heart" was one of them! They are a delight. They are getting a real-life look at what it takes to run a non-profit ministry and we are getting the benefit of their talents and education. It's a win-win. We are blessed to have them working alongside us for these few short summer weeks.
Last Wednesday we had our first day of the summer preschool program. The kiddos had a blast in Kindermusik, art, and especially water play time in the backyard. I'm not gonna lie...the kiddie pools we bought look pretty fun to me too. They looked SO CUTE in their new swimsuits and they loved their towels with their names embroidered on them. We also had our first night of Kids' Choir. We had quite a good turn-out - I was a little nervous since we had a pop-up storm just before it was time for them to get there. (Also, my headache and storms are apparently mortal enemies.) They are fast learners and seemed to have a good time. Next week is our first week-long day camp - Science Adventure theme. I'm SO excited about camp!
